The Truth About ACEs
ACEs are common but can be devastating.
About 64% of U.S. adults reported they had experienced at least one type of ACE before age 18, and nearly 1 in 6 (17.3%) reported they had experienced four or more types of ACEs.
Preventing ACEs could mean that 21 million cases of depression potentially could be avoided.

Why Trauma-Responsive Care Matters
Trauma can surface from the experience of prolonged distress and suffering that has caused an overwhelming emotional injury. What’s critical to understand is that trauma doesn’t just impact the mind, but the whole person. Individuals who carry trauma, experience bodily sensations that are also associated with the incidents experienced and can additionally struggle to find a sense of trust, belonging, and connection. Trauma overhauls a person’s life, which is why a trauma-responsive approach that fully assesses and addresses the full impact of trauma is key.
